The Power of Patience
I have heard it said that patience is a virtue seldom found in women, never in a man. Why is being patient such a challenge for men? Why is it so hard for us as guys to wait? It seems next to impossible at times, yet the bible is full of passages that require us to practice patience.
King David is a perfect example of a man who had to learn this particular virtue. Psalm 27:14 states: “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. ” (NIV) Psalm 33:20 :”We wait for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.” (NIV)
He was anointed King of Israel at the age of twelve, but had to wait several years before it came to pass. Talk about having to be patient and not lose hope.
Men be patient. Sometimes the Kings answer does not come right away. And when we move out from underneath His covering and become impatient, it can end in disaster. I know as guys we want results, and quickly, because we want to move on to the next thing. We are born to be doers not wait-ers. But sometimes we need to just wait.
“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.” (Psalm 40:1 NIV)
As men of the King we need to be patient and wait for His orders. He will answer. And when He does we will know because we will feel His strength and power as we follow His instructions.
So be patient. Our King will answer.
