The Power of a Good Foundation

As I was talking with my best friend today I realized how important it is to have a solid foundation. Even though that’s not where the building ends if that foundation is not solid the rest of the structure will not survive.

Jesus teaches us about this in Luke chapter 6:46-49

46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

This is how it is in our spiritual lives as well. When we become men of the King, God gives us a new foundation.  From there we continue to grow and our lives become the building where God can live and help us live out our lives.

If we forget to check and maintain that foundation, it could crack, and eventually fail.

It is important as warriors of the king, that we remember to check our foundation on a regular basis.

Psalms 127:1 says this:

Unless the Lord builds the house,
    the builders labor in vain.

Are you letting God build your house? Or are you trying to build it they way you want it? Which version do you think will last longer?

This?

Or this?

Remember our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. On Christ that solid rock we stand. All other ground is sinking sand! Amen!
