The Power of Armor: The Helmet of Salvation

I wrote previously about how powerful it is to put on God’s armor. But then I thought to myself, Does anyone know what this armor looked like? Or better yet even understand the significance of each piece.

The Romans designed their armor with just as much precision as they designed their roads, their aqueducts, just about everything they built.

This is a replica of the galea, one of the most common helmets, over time it’s design changed slightly but the basic structure stayed the same. This is probably what Paul was thinking of when he referred to it in Ephesians. I want you to notice how it protects everything except the very front. It even has a plate that covers the back of the neck.

So when you put on the Helmet of Salvation, you are allowing God to completely cover your head and protect you from the enemy trying to attack your thoughts.

Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” When we put this helmet on we allow for God to transform us and renew our mind. His salvation cleanses us from the grime of the flesh.

So when you put on your helmet today remember it is to protect and to help you become the warrior God wants you to be.

Until next time
